FA Cup: Tranmere Replay Rearranged

Tonight's Emirates FA Cup third round replay against Tranmere Rovers has been postponed due to heavy rainfall at Prenton Park since Sunday, and will now be played on Thursday January 23 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Supporters should keep hold of their match tickets, as they will be valid for the rearranged fixture.

Both clubs were in regular contact with each other, the referee and the Football Association over the past two days, discussing the options available after it became clear that heavy rain from Storm Brendan could put the fixture at risk.

However, following a pitch inspection this afternoon, the referee decided the match unfortunately could not go ahead.

A statement from The FA read: “After consultation with all the relevant parties, in order to keep the Competition on track and reduce the risk of causing fixture disruption elsewhere, the match has been rescheduled for Thursday January 23, 7.45pm kick-off.

“The winner of this tie will host Wolverhampton Wanderers or Manchester United in the Fourth Round Proper on Sunday 26 January, 3.00pm kick-off, live on BT Sport.”

Official: Pussetto Pens Permanent Deal

Argentinian winger Ignacio Pussetto has become the Hornets’ newest recruit after completing a permanent transfer to Watford today.

The versatile 24-year-old, who can also operate as a striker or an attacking midfielder, has agreed terms on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Arriving at Vicarage Road from Udinese, Pussetto played 50 times in 18 months with the Serie A side, scoring five goals – including one at Juventus last month.

Prior to his move to Italy, the Santa Fe-born attacker began his professional career with Atlético de Rafaela before switching to fellow Argentine Primera División outfit Huracán.
