Pussetto: “I’m Very Excited To Start Right Away”

Ignacio Pussetto says he hopes to help Watford continue their recent surge in form after becoming the latest addition to Nigel Pearson’s Premier League squad.

The Argentinian winger arrived today from Italian side Udinese but admitted he’d been keeping a close eye on the Hornets’ progress over recent weeks.

“I have been following Watford a lot,” said Pussetto, speaking to watfordfc.com after agreeing a four-and-a-half-year contract.

“I watched the last game which we won against Bournemouth, which was a huge victory, and what I hope for is to continue these positive results in order to be able to go up in the table, and for me to be able to contribute to this.

“It is very important for me to get into the team as soon as possible and I’m very excited to start right away. If the manager thinks I am ready for Saturday I am available, but otherwise I will try my best and train hard in order to be in the squad as soon as possible.”

Having started out with Argentine Primera División outfits Atlético de Rafaela and Huracán, Pussetto moved to Italy in 2018 and featured 50 times for the Zebrette, but believes he is now ready to make a name for himself in English football.

“This is a huge step for my career. I’m very happy and proud to be in the Premier League now and I have to take all the responsibilities that comes with it,” he said.

“It was not an easy decision to move because it’s a huge step, but when I was at Udinese I heard a lot about Watford because it was a very close club.

“I’m excited to be here and I have to put in as much effort as I can for the good of the club now.”

Pussetto will be linking up with fellow Argentine Roberto Pereyra and is already well known to a number of players on Watford’s books.

“I’m very excited to get to know Pereyra because even though I don’t know him personally, many people have said very good things about him as a person, and as a player he’s very renowned. I look forward to getting to know not only him but also the whole team.

“I already know Ben [Wilmot], Ken [Sema] and Marvin [Zeegelaar] and I know Stefano [Okaka] was here too. Everyone talks very well about the club and the people who work at the training ground. The important thing now is for me to get settled in and get into the squad as soon as possible.”
